The Secrets of Owning Your Avatar

Three steps you can take today to gain control in your market.

The companies that leave a massive dent in the universe own their avatar. Having total ownership over your market sounds like a fantasy, but you can make it happen. Let’s make this your new reality.

I have three steps you can take to ensure you are the go-to person, product or service for what you do for your avatar. Follow these steps, and you’ll be able to gain avatar clarity and achieve a consistent deliverable for your clients.

See, a good business has an avatar. But, a world-changing business owns an avatar. When you go out and take all the oxygen away from anyone else who’s talking to your avatar, you are the only person they hear. This is how companies explode.

Now, I’m not saying it’s easy to achieve, and not everyone will do what’s required to reach the massive growth that comes with owning a section of the market. But, if you commit to your business and your clients, you will get there.

So, how do I know this? Let me share with you where it comes from, so you understand why I’m telling you this information with such certainty.

I’m privileged with a crazy work history which has given me a unique view of organizations. When I started working in my twenties, I worked as a Consultant with massive multinational, multibillion-dollar organizations like Walmart, Fuji, and Microsoft.

I’ve worked with startups too, companies like SanDisk that went from literally nothing to a multibillion-dollar organization in the time I was working with them. So I’ve seen companies grow.

I’ve obsessed my whole life about what it takes to be successful, and companies who own their avatar don’t get stuck or crash and burn, they take off like rockets. This strategy — own your avatar — decides who stays in business and who doesn’t.

Let’s work through the steps of owning your avatar so you can put them into action today…

  1. Define — Who do you want to work with? You have to be specific enough that you could pick this person out of a crowd. The clarity of your avatar will create the speed with which your movement will grow. If your avatar is unclear, you’re going to hit a brick wall.

  2. Avatar interviews — Once you’ve defined your avatar, it’s time to talk with those people. In your interviews, ask, as it relates to what you do and the problem you plan on solving, how do they feel? What would the ideal solution be? Why are they frustrated with what they have now? What you’ll find is your avatars will tell you exactly what they want you to give them and you’ll hear language over and over again telling you how you should sell to them. They’ll let you know what’s important.

  3. Own your avatar, continuously — This is not a one-time activity. As your business grows, your offerings must grow alongside it. Continue to talk to your avatars, ask them questions, listen and modify as necessary.
